To reduce the vulnerability of various disasters through risk reduction programs, especially for the poor and disadvantaged people, to adopt effective humanitarian assistance programs to increase the capacity of the poor and disadvantaged people, to coordinate the various programs adopted by various government and non-government organizations related to disaster risk reduction and emergency response. Implementing the government's instructions and recommendations related to disaster management and national disaster management policies and plans is one of the responsibilities of the Directorate of Disaster Management (DDM).


Philosophy and Goals Our philosophy is to develop an active institution, knowledge base, research center and a recognized center for capacity building of disaster management professionals in disaster management.

In light of the Disaster Management Act-2012, it will be an active institution whose work will be - to include risk reduction in disaster management programs, to reduce the vulnerability of poor and disadvantaged people from the negative effects of disasters, to increase the capacity of each part of the disaster management cycle in knowledge, research and development.


Objectives


DDM will be an active institution in managing various types of disasters efficiently, whose function will be to undertake disaster risk reduction programs, respond efficiently to any disaster, and provide overall support to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief in coordinating among agencies involved in disaster risk management.
